The famous Einstein-with-his-tongue-out picture was taken after he got bored of smiling at his 72nd birthday!

A celebration was being held on the night of March 14 1951 at the Princeton Club by friends and colleagues of Dr. Einstein. It was the latter’s 72nd birthday. Photographers from all over the United States were there to cover the event much to the chagrin of unassuming professor.

Dr Frank Aydelotte, the former head of the Institute for Advanced Study, and his wife offered to drive Einstein home to 112 Mercer Street. As he entered the auto, the cameramen rushed to make ‘just one more’ picture. UPI photographer Arthur Sasse was trying to persuade him to smile for the camera, but having smiled for photographers many times that day, visibly tired Dr. Einstein stuck out his tongue instead.

He made the iconic shot, but the other photographers surrounding the car missed it. The appropriateness of the photo was heavily debated by Sasse’s editors before being published on International News Photos Network. It became one of the most popular photos ever taken of Einstein, who himself requested nine prints for his personal use.

The ONLY blind contestant in a reality cooking show also won Masterchef!

Christine Ha won the third season of MasterChef. She is the first and only Reality TV cooking show contestant to be visually impaired or blind. Ha likens her sigh impairment to seeing the world through a thick, puffy cloud of white steam. She stuck to making mostly Asian cuisine and keeping it simple.

Her finale rival on the other hand cooked items from across the globe and used fancy techniques. Some criticize that Ha only one for ratings since she is disabled, but the point of the show is to highlight every day cooks at home being able to make extraordinary dishes that top chefs even enjoy. Ultimately, Christine Ha made history by just being on the cooking show, let alone win the whole thing.

Jake Gyllenhaal witnessed a murder while preparing with the LAPD for a film!

End of Watch was a 2012 film shot documentary style about LAPD partners who make a few good busts and the Mexican drug cartel orders their deaths. The film was loosely based on real life LAPD partners, Charles Wunder and Jamie McBride, from the 1990s.

As part of their training, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña spent five months doing 12-hour ride-alongs with on-duty LAPD officers. During Gyllenhaal's first ride-along, he witnessed a murder. Gyllenhaal and Pena improvised most of the banter between them in the film.

In law enforcement, "end of watch" has two meanings; it commonly refers to time to go off duty at the end of shift. Also, if an officer is killed in the line of duty, the date of his death is referred to as his end of watch.

A man was looking for his hammer with a metal detector. He found found the largest hoard Roman gold and silver ever found in Britain!

The hoard was discovered in a field of a farm, about 1.5 miles southwest of the village of Hoxne in Suffolk, in November 1992. Peter Whatling, the tenant farmer, had lost a hammer and asked his friend Eric Lawes, a retired gardener and amateur metal detectorist, to help look for it.

While searching the field with his metal detector, Lawes discovered silver spoons, gold jewelery and numerous gold and silver coins. After retrieving a few items, he and Whatling notified the landowners and the police, without attempting to dig out any more objects.

The following day, a team of archaeologists from the Suffolk Archaeological Unit carried out an emergency excavation of the site. The entire hoard was excavated in a single day, with the removal of several large blocks of unbroken material for laboratory excavation.

The area within a radius of 98 feet from the find spot was searched using metal detectors. Peter Whatling's missing hammer was also recovered and donated to the British Museum.

Australian Koalas are in danger of extinction because over half of them have chlamydia

Koalas live between 13 to 18 years in the wild. Males tend to not live near as long as the females due to their lives being more hazardous. They can all be subject to pathogens like chlamydia, too.

Among many issues it can cause reproductive tract infection. The infection easily spreads to mainland areas and the koala retrovirus can cause Koala Immune Deficiency Syndrome which is similar to AIDS. Koalas are close to extinction in Australia and a good portion of the reason is from diseases like chlamydia. Another portion is due to poaching the animals.
