In 1876 the U.S received marijuana as a present! Who was it from?

Despite marijuana being illegal in most parts of the U.S right now, there was a point in time that is was legal to smoke just like you can consume alcohol. People using marijuana was not an uncommon thing. As a result of this world wide popularity, in 1876 the U.S. received what some might call the greatest present ever, marijuana.

The person who gave this gift was the Sultan of Turkey at the time. This gift was so well received that in 1880, Turkish smoking parlors began opening in the northeastern parts of the country! I wonder if Obama would accept that present.

A 17 year old girl faked a pregnancy for six months for a social experiment with only a handful of people knowing it!

As her senior project, Gaby Rodriguez decided to do a social experiment. As an aspiring social worker, she decided to lie to everyone and fake a pregnancy and gather the reactions of everyone as her data. Only a few people including her mother, principle, and boyfriend knew that it was an experiment. Her siblings, teachers, friends, classmates, and her boyfriend’s parents were all convinced she was actually pregnant.

At the end of six months, she unveiled the truth during her presentation on stereotypes, rumours, and statistics in front of her entire high school. She removed her homemade mesh quilt pillow that had been her baby bump from under her shirt to show everyone she wasn’t really pregnant. She was scared to reveal the truth to everyone and how they would react.

Surprisingly she got cheers and a standing ovation. Her principle left a conference at 5:30 am to be at the school in time for the presentation and was very impressed with it.

The Cleveland Indians once had a 10-cent beer night. It ended with nudity and a large riot!

On June 4, 1974 the Cleveland Indians played the Texas Rangers and held a ten cent beer night at the field. A week before the game there had been a brawl between the two teams. The crowd got super drunk at the game and began misbehaving.

A father and son ran onto the field and mooned everyone  in the bleachers and a woman ran onto the Indians deck and flashed everyone and then tried to kiss the umpire. Then a man ran stark naked and slid into second base as Grieve hit his second home run of the night.

The game took a turn for the worse when Leron Lee of Cleveland hit a line drive that hit Rangers pitcher Ferguson Jenkins in the stomach, causing him to fall down. The fans chanted for Lee to do it again. The fans got worse and started shooting fireworks into the Rangers’ dugout, throwing hotdogs at them, and spitting at them.

In the 9th inning, a fan tried to steal a Ranger player’s hat, making the Ranger fall. The manager thought the player had been attacked and ran onto the field with the Ranger players wielding bats.

The Indian’s fans came at them with knives, chains, and stadium chairs they’d ripped loose. The umpire called for a forfeit in favor of the Rangers.

Dr. Who actor John Barrowman was turned down for Will and Grace because he was too straight, even though he’s gay.

The part instead went to straight actor Eric McCormack. Will and Grace is a comedy show that premiered in 1998 and went on to become one of the most famous shows on television and lasted for eight seasons. The show centers around the relationship between a straight interior designer named Grace, and her gay roommate named Will.

The show details often ridiculous events that transpire in New York as Will and Grace interact with various straight and gay characters. It collected 83 nominations and won 16 Emmy Awards during its run, yet there was always a fierce battle between what was considered “too gay.”

This problem was highlighted during casting when gay actor John Barrowman auditioned for the part of Will and was turned down for being, “too straight.” The role was then given to straight actor Eric McCormack who producers believed better portrayed a typical gay man.

Barrowman says this move was typical of a “homophobic” Hollywood that still gets unnerved at the thought of a legitimate gay couple. The saddest part he says, “is it’s run by gay men and women.”
