A kidnapper is suing the couple he kidnapped for handing him over to the police! Here’s the story

Now a convicted felon, Jesse Dimmick is a bit of a dim wit. After breaking into the home of the Rowley family during an intense car chase, he held the couple at knife point. The couple was later able to gain his trust by eating Cheetos, drinking Dr Pepper, and watching a Robin Williams movie. When he fell asleep, the Rowley couple turned him over to the police.

Dimmick claims that the Rowley family and him had an oral contract in which they said they wouldn’t turn him over to the police if he gave them an unspecified amount of money! Dimmick is suing them for $235,000! He says he needs this money to pay a hospital bill from a resulting gunshot wound.

The couple denies saying that they wouldn’t turn him over to the police, and the judge of this case is being pressured to throw out Dimmick’s claim because the Rowley family was under extreme stress levels when they may have made this deal. Learn more about this bizarre case by reading the source

The largest mall in the world is 99% empty! Why?

The New South China Mall is located in Dongguan, China, is measured at 9,600,000 square ft, and has room for 2350 stores! However, the mall doesn’t actually have stores in all of these locations. In fact, there are only 47 stores in the mall, most of which are fast food chains! Store owners are reluctant to locate themselves into the mall!

The reason for this is because Dongguan is a suburb in China, and the mall’s location is only accessible by car and bus. The mall isn’t near any highways, and is considered a little inconvenient to get to for majority of the public! As a result, store owners don’t want to rent out space in the mall!

There was a nuclear explosion and no one knows who did it!

Nuclear weapons are one of the most awe inspiring and terrifying things to exist on Earth today. They are undoubtedly the single most important aspect of global diplomacy and although our world has been relatively peaceful since World War II, they remain a constant threat. For this reason, the nations with the technology to create and test atomic weapons are strictly regulated. Every bomb that has been detonated in the past 70 years is common knowledge, so when there was an explosion in 1979 that no one took credit for, the World was shaken.

It is known as the Vela Incident. On September 22, 1979 there was a double flash recorded near the Indian Ocean that is believed to be an atomic explosion. The satellite that recorded the flash had observed 41 other double flashes, which were all confirmed to be nuclear explosions. While there remains some doubt as to whether the satellite recorded something else, there is no other plausible explanation. At the time the United States was very on edge, along with every other country that held nuclear weapons, yet today it has turned into a mystery because no one knows who tested the weapon! Any guesses? Let us know in the comments!

Some awesome lists!

After his presidency, Theodore Roosevelt went on a safari and hunted over 11,000 animals.

In 1909, Teddy and his companions travelled to Africa, and went hunting in what is now Kenya, the DRC, and the Sudan to catch rare wild animal specimens. He and his team killed or captured 11,397 different animals, including elephants, hippos, and even insects. Among them were 6 rare white rhinos. He brought back so many animals on his trip that it took years for the Smithsonian Institution to mount them all, and many of the extra animal specimens had to be given away to other museums for want of space.

You can read his own accounts of his safari experience here. The above picture is "Teddy Roosevelt VS Bigfoot" by SharpWriter. A high-res version.

Over 10 million people in 75 countries participated in The Dark Knight's viral marketing campaign!

The Dark Knight is widely considered to have had the best viral campaign in history. The campaign began with a large number of websites for fictional Gotham City institutions (newspapers, the Gotham Police Department, etc.). It soon moved into the real world by sending clues to bloggers and reporters hidden in cakes.

One of the largest events was called “Why So Serious?” which let players become henchmen for the Joker as part of a massive game that included a scavenger hunt throughout San Diego's ComicCon and included finding hidden lockers with items for the movie. The end result of this was that awareness for the movie was through the roof and contributed to The Dark Knight becoming one of the most successful movies of all time

This campaign is an example of an "Alternate Reality Game" (ARG), which is a new form of storytelling. People that participated in The Dark Knight ARG were exposed to the backstory of The Dark Knight and were familiar with characters and plot elements from the actual movie. People have been telling stories to each other since the dawn of human culture. Interactive stories let you not only listen or watch, but to actually participate.
