On July 11th, 2011 Neptune completed its first full orbit since it was discovered in 1846

Neptune is about 4.50 billion km from the Sun, and it completes an orbit every 164.79 years. Since it was discovered in 1846, that means it just completed its first full orbit last year. It was not, however, in the same spot in our sky, because the Earth was in a different position at both times.

Another interesting fact about Neptune is that it has a similar tilt as Earth and Mars, which means that all three planets experience similar seasonal changes. However, because of how much slower Neptune's orbit is, each season lasts about 40 Earth years! Despite this, Neptune's days are roughly 16 hours.

A man sold a safe on eBay for $123. The safe contained $26,000 IN CASH

You've probably heard the saying "Buyer Beware." However, in this case, it was the seller that should have been more careful. A seller who would not remember the combination for his safe. Instead of trying to open it, he decided to sell it for a little bit of cash.

The person who bought it decided to crack it open. When the buyer opened it, he found $26,000 in cash. *Obviously* the buyer was nice enough to leave a 5-star review and let the seller know of his fortune. The seller, by the way, asked the buyer to split the money. The seller said no. Be careful what you sell. You never know if there's always money in your locked safe, or even the banana stand.

There's a disorder that causes people to mix up their senses and taste colors!

It's called synesthesia, and it is the neurological condition in which sensory information is misconstrued in the brain and interpreted differently. This results in involuntary experiences of a second sensory pathway that is not supposed to be triggered.

A common example of synesthesia is known as grapheme. This is when letters or numbers can be perceived as colors, tastes, forms, or even to have personalities! A person with this affliction experiences all five senses simultaneously when they should be separate.

Teri Floyd described the number 5 as "blackish gray, and in his early 20's." Genders, textures, and ages can be attributed to different numbers also, and sufferers often describe the experience as overwhelming.

It is the result of the brain failing to fire neurons at the correct time, so when they see something, instead of just seeing it they feel it and hear it too!

Some particles know when they are being watched.

Remember the Boos from the Super Mario series? They move towards you when you're not watching, but the second you turn, they freeze in shame. In a similar, but opposite way, scientists have found that unstable uranium stops decaying when they observe it!

After a day of looking at some unstable uranium, scientists in Texas noted that the uranium would decay when they weren't looking, and stop the decay when they did look at it. It was as if the element knew when it was being observed. They thought it might be a fluke, but the results were the next day. They reported it to other labs, who corroborated their story!

Hybrid Sharks have been observed for the first time ever!

Thankfully, they're not killer Sharktopuses (sharktopi?). However, the Australian black-tip shark has been found to be mating with their global counterpart, the common black-tip.

This is the first time it has been observed in nature. It is significant because the Australian black-tip is smaller and can only survive in tropical climates. Scientists are calling this "evolution in action" becuase the hybrids can survive in more climates.

They still don't know if the hybrid breed has the upper hand in the evolutionary chain. If they do, then they expect the Australian black-tip to slowly disappear over time.
