In March 2012, a U.S. soldier gave his life to save an Afghani boy by pushing him out of the way of a truck
It’s pretty common that you hear negative things about the US’ presence in the Middle East. One quick trip to the YouTube comments section will give you an ample supply of accusations of US soldiers murdering innocent children.
Well while it’s important to take information from such a place with a grain of salt, there was in fact a man who did something to the contrary (such behavior isn’t all that rare). National guardsman Sergeant Dennis Weichel Jr saved an Afghan boy from being hit by a truck earlier this year.
He lost his life when he was hit by that same truck. The 29 year old father of three was hit by an armored truck in March after moving an Afghan boy out of the way. The boy was trying to retrieve empty shell casings from under the vehicle so that he could sell them.
