A Mississippi lawmaker has introduced a bill to rename the Gulf of Mexico

First they came for my freedom- fries that is. The trend of renaming things to make them more American centric continues. A famous case was congress renaming French fries "Freedom Fries" to protest the French pulling out of Iraq. Now, a Mississippi Democrat has introduced a bill that would rename the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America,

It should be said however, that Rep. Steve Holland meant it as a sarcastic joke and social commentary. It drew a lot of media attention and even drew protests from a lot of Latino groups.

Holland says that the statement he wanted to make was that people usually see things in a very high level. The ridiculousness of his bill was meant to make people reflect on that and bring issues like illegal immigration down to a more human level.

"I did it to rebut all those damn Republicans down there who want to run illegal immigrants out of the state, and drug-test welfare people who can't help being on welfare," he said. "What I was doing is showing that we need to be serious and more sensitive about how we approach our responsibilities, and need to think about the human level of the things," he said.

However, for those keeping count, the United States does have a longer coast line on the Gulf than Mexico does. However, that is what the territory looks like now, and not like it looked when it was originally named. The whole coast used to be Mexican

A newly discovered plant smells like rotten meat and poop

A new species of Amorphophallus has been discovered. It's being dubbed the "corpse flower" because it gives a really foul stench of rotting meat and feces.

It was discovered off the coast of Madagascar and can grow up to 5 feet in height. Every year when it blooms it gives off a smell that, according to a biology professor who has helped with the discovery, is similar to a combination of "rotting roadkill and a Porta Potty."

Another fun fact about the plant? The genus it belongs to Amorphophallus literally means "misshapen penis." A weird willy that smells like crap. What an odd world we live in.

A new £2000 procedure TATTOOS a buzz cut into bald men!

A company called HIS (Hair-Ink-Skin) has developed an interesting way for bald men to regain their hair. Instead of expensive plugs, or fake looking toupeés, they came up with a very natural looking solution. A tattooed-in buzz cut.

It's called Micro Hair Technique, and it took the creators years to develop. The way they do it is by mixing and matching different shades of ink to replicate the look, size and shape of micro hairs in men's heads. The three men on the right have had the procedure done.

Because the procedure costs many many times less than something like a hair transplant (which can cost up to £25000) MHT is becoming really popular. They've now opened locations in the United States. What do you think? Does it look natural enough? Would you get it?

The offspring of a false killer whale and a dolphin is called a Wholfin

Although very rare, false killer whales and bottle nosed dolphins can mate and have offspring.

As of right now, there are only two wholphins in captivity. The one pictured here is called Kawill Kai; she lives with her mom in the Sea Life Park in Hawaii.

They are very rarely seen in the wild, although they are part of fisherman lore, and they are known as "The Great Bay Beast."

A 15-year old was arrested for stealing virtual goods in the game Runescape

Runescape is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). In its medieval setting, players can hone their characters skills in things like mining, fishing and woodcutting. Now, also some real life thievery.

An unnamed minor in the Netherlands was convicted for stealing virtual items from another boy back in 2007. The perp allegedly held the victim at knife-point at his computer until he logged in and dropped his items.

The defense argued that the items could not be considered 'stolen' because they weren't tangible and had no economic value. However, the court said that the objects had an intrinsic value because of the time and energy invested.

Man, we've been playing a lot of Minecraft around the office, but I don't think I would threaten Gaby with a knife for a diamond sword, no matter how hard they are to get.
