Have scientists discovered a cure to aging?

These cells, known as senescent cells, have been shown to help the body age so scientists are trying to get rid of them to fight aging! After testing on mice, the one treated did not develop the aging disease cataracts and was able to exercise on a treadmill for much longer than the mice with its senescent cells remaining. The mouse with the aging cells removed also showed no signs of wrinkling!

Another breakthrough in the study is a type of mouse has been engineered that can rid their bodies of senescent cells by getting a drug that tells the cells to self-destruct!

John Wilkes Booth’s brother saved the life of Abraham Lincoln’s son

In late 1864 or early 1865 (the date is not certain), Booth and Lincoln were waiting for a train in Jersey City, New Jersey. Lincoln fell onto the train tracks from a platform as the train came towards him! Suddenly, someone grabbed him by his collar and was pulled up to safety.

The man who saved him was none other than Edwin Booth, brother of famed assassin, John Wilkes Booth! Booth did not find out the identity of Lincoln until months later when Booth joined the Union Army and was commemorated for his good deed. After his father was murdered, Robert Lincoln was comforted by Edwin Booth!

Dolphins are the only animal that have sex for pleasure

In fact, dolphins are the only species to have sex for fun besides humans and certain types of monkeys.

Generally speaking, animals cannot afford to waste precious energy that is needed for hunting or defending themselves. Animals have competition so they often get injured or even killed in attempting to find a mate.

The mating process is difficult and time-consuming. Most species look at reproduction as a more natural process and not as a leisurely activity.

A spider from Hawaii has a smiley face on its back

It is found only on the islands of Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Hawaii. The happy face spider, such as this one guarding its eggs on a leaf in Maui, is known for the unique patterns that decorate its pale abdomen.

Scientists believe Theridion grallator may have developed its distinctive markings to discourage birds from eating it.
