None of The Beatles Could Read Music

The Beatles are talked about as one of the best bands of all times but surprisingly none of The Beatles could even read music! Although they could play the guitar, and wrote their own lyrics, they never learned how to read music.

They did know the chords and knew where middle C was on a piano. In a 1980 interview with Playboy, John Lennon said: “I think Paul and Ringo stand up with any of the rock musicians. Not technically great — none of us are technical musicians. None of us could read music. None of us can write it. But as pure musicians, as inspired humans to make the noise, they are as good as anybody”

Paul is the only one of The Beatles who attempted to learn how to read music.  He tried to take piano lessons from his girlfriend’s mother but did not have the time or the patience.  None of the others even tried.

There’s even a warning on the box, and the official statement on the Q-Tip website (Q-Tip is a brand name) says “They also provide the ultimate precision, making them the perfect tool for uses outside your ear.”

More Q-Tip facts: “Q-Tip” is a brand name. The generic name for the product is “cotton-tipped applicator”. The Q in Q-Tip stands for “quality”. Originally the product was called “Baby Gays”.

There is a temple for all religions

Also known as the temple of the universe, it is a work in progress that eventually hopes to encompass all religions in the world. It’s located in Staroye Arakchino, and it incorporates many recognizable forms of religious architecture.

The construction of the temple began in 1992 by local artist Ildar Khanov, and it currently serves as a cultural center in Russia. The structure is not a place of worship, but rather a “temple of culture and truth”. Khanov believes that eventually the temple will have 16 domes, representing 16 of the world religions.

Venus has an ozone layer.

It’s nowhere near as thick as Earth’s, but European astronomers have discovered that the nearby planet has a layer of ozone. Since ozone is made out of oxygen and there’s no life on Venus, this suggests that a planet simply having oxygen is not sufficient for that planet to support life. Still, it’s interesting that Earth and its neighbors, Mars and Venus, all have ozone layers. Venus’ ozone layer is three times as high as Earth’s, and only 1/100 as thick.
