The director of ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ wrote the first script for ‘Indiana Jones 4’!

The fourth film was originally titled ‘Indiana Jones and the City of Gods’ and was written by Frank Darabont, the man who developed ‘The Walking Dead’ for television, and director of ‘The Shawshank Redemption’. When read, both Stephen Spielberg and Harrison Ford approved the script but for some unknown reason, George Lucas rejected it later!

If you read Darabont’s draft, you will notice that there are many similar elements to the actual fourth movie, ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’. For example, both scripts have the movie taking place in the 1950s; Indiana Jones in a refrigerator during a nuclear blast; an army ant invasion, and a crystal skull!

There were some differences, ‘City of Gods’ features Indiana Jones with the crystal skull, his friend turns out to be a Russian spy, and there are many more people going after the secrets the skull holds. Some of the people include an ex-Nazi from the first movie, Soviet Union soldiers, and the dictatorial president of Peru! Do you want to read this lost script? Jimmy Carter legalized home-brewing beer in the US on October 14, 1978!

Many of you history buffs may be thinking that that doesn’t make sense. The 21st Amendment in 1933 declared alcohol legal once again but the bill failed to mention brewing your own hooch at home!

It took over 40 years to legalize brewing your own beer at home and when it was finally legalized, many brewers believed it started the boom of craft beer. Craft beer is a distinctive flavored brew that is produced for a specific area or season and since this law, brewers can make up to 100 gallons of beer at home per year!

Do you have a favorite craft beer? Do you know someone that makes it? Tell us in the comments!

Sarcasm can enhance your ability to solve problems!

Sarcasm can help your brain’s ability to decipher problem? Yeah, right! It’s true because using sarcasm on a regular basis can make your brain sharper!

In an Israeli study, it was shown that sarcasm encourages complex thinking and deciphering the true message. This form of mockery is used so often in the world that almost all children can recognize and use sarcasm by the time they start kindergarden! Scientists have concluded that if people cannot understand sarcasm, the person most likely is suffering from a brain disorder.

Sarcasm has also shaped languages, particularly English. For instance, 25% of the time, the phrase “Yeah, right” is used in a joking manner. Also, some phrases like “Big deal” and “Aren’t you special” have lost most of their meaning because of the common insincerity associated with them!

The opposite of ‘sparkle’ is ‘darkle’!

While most of us have seen things shimmer with light and described it as sparkling, there is an equal opposite to sparkle. The word, darkle, means to become cloudy, gloomy, dark, or be concealed in the dark!

Another interesting fact about darkle is that it is a relatively new word in comparison to its antonym, sparkle! In fact, the first use of sparkle dates back to the 13th century with sparken as in ‘to spark’.

Darkle only originates in the 1800s, and while the exact origin word is unknown, it is believed that the original use of darkle was ‘darkling’.
