The CD was designed so it could hold Beethoven's Ninth Symphony!
Norio Ohga was a japanese businessman that climbed up the ladder until he became the CEO of Sony. In 1982, when they were deciding the specifications for the Compact Disk, he insisted that the CD should be 12 centimeters in diameter.
At 12 centimeters, the CD would be able to hold 75 minutes of music. Norio Ohga's reason for this is that he wanted a CD to be able to hold Beethoven's 9th in full. Ohga also predicted that CDs would soon replace record sales. It only took 5 years for his prediction to come true.
Starting with Apollo 11, astronauts have reported that they saw frequent flashes of light, even when their eyes were closed. This was surprising, given that their cabin had low light conditions and was shielded from the outside.
There was a growing number of letters addressed to Santa Claus in Canada. In 1974, the staff at the Canadian postage system decided to start answering letters by themselves, so that little kids wouldn't be upset that Santa didn't answer.
Since 1962, there has been a commercial embargo between the US and Cuba. This makes it illegal to sell in the US anything made on the island. Perhaps the most famous product affected by this are Cuban Cigars. Cubans are famously good and considered to be superior over other cigars.
This is since James Bond's creation in 1962. 3/4 of the women he's slept with have tried to kill him! Funnily enough, James Bond's favorite drink, the Martini (shaken, not stirred) contains about 130 calories, which is about how much he burns when having sex!
