A man survived the Hindenburg disaster by bailing out the window!

Joseph Späh was a comic acrobat who was on his way to New York to perform his own show but missed a ship that left from Germany. Späh decided to take the Hindenburg to New Jersey because it was his only hope to arrive to New York in time for rehearsals to begin.

When he started sensing trouble, Späh broke a window and climbed out with a video camera. As the Hindenburg went lower and lower, Späh jumped out of the window at around 20 feet and did a safety roll to land safely. Unfortunately, Späh still suffered ankle injuries but was rescued from the impending fiery disaster by a ground worker who helped Späh up and ran him to safety!

Zappos’ employees can ride private jets for free!

A leaked memo from Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, read that he joined the board of directors for private jet service, JetSuite.

Jetsuite has an offering called SuiteDeals, which is when empty planes fly around so they can be repositioned for other users. For the general public, the cost is $499 for SuiteDeals. However, thanks to Tony Hsieh's position on the board of directors, Zappos emloyees can ride those for free!

That's quite a deal, since the usual cost of a private flight with JetSuite is $4000 an hour! This isn’t the only perk to working for Zappos. Allegedly, they have vending machines that dispense freely and often buy their employees lunch! What kind of perks would you like your workplace to give to you?

Katherine Heigl starred in the lowest grossing movie of all time!

The film Zyzzyx Rd grossed a total of $20 at the box office! The gross was originally $30 but one person asked for his money back.

The reason for this was due to a very limited release that was necessary due to the Screen Actor's Guild regulations. Low-budget films that have a domestic release are allowed to pay the actors a lower salary than the usual standard.

The producers did not want to release the movie in the US before it went around international circles, so they rented one theater in Texas, and ran the movie for a week.

Unfortunately, the story got picked up and there was guye publicity for the movie being "the lowest grossing movie of all time." The producers of Zyzzyx Rd suffered a huge loss on the film, as it only grossed $20 and about $2,000,000 was put into it, and they still haven't released it domestically.

Since, then, Zzyzx Road was almost replaced by "The Worst Movie EVER!" as the lowest grossing movie of all time, it grossed $11 at the opening weekend, on it's way to a $5000 gross.

For every 50,000 marathon runners, 1 dies of a heart attack within 24 hours of finishing the race!

This statistic applies to anyone who does strenuous activity for three or more hours. Researchers know that the reason is over-exertion of the heart muscle, which causes muscle cells to die. It's not an age thing either. According to their findings, younger, fitter people have a higher risk of having exertion related heart problems because they put more strain to their heart while exercising. Other facts about heart attacks:

• 39% of all heart attacks are fatal.
• About 57.5% of victims die before they are able to reach a hospital
• Watching the World Cup increases the risk of a heart attack

General Mills can no longer say Cheerios are proven to reduce cholesterol!

For decades, the cereal Cheerios has been known for lowering cholesterol 4% in 6 weeks. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent a letter in 2009 to General Mills saying that Cheerios was being advertised as an unapproved new drug!

The FDA gave General Mills two options: One, market Cheerios differently or two, apply to the government to sell Cheerios as a drug! The cereal company responded by stating that the FDA had already approved their claims of fiber used in advertising for years. What do you think? Is the FDA in the wrong or General Mills?`
