Futurama’s Fry was named Philip in honor of Phil Hartman!

Hartman was an actor and comedian most known for his work on Saturday Night Live in the 1990s, and the underrated sitcom NewsRadio. He was semi-regular on the show The Simpsons. When Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, began working on characters for his new show Futurama, he wrote Zapp just for Hartman.

Phil Hartman was murdered by his wife in 1998 and was never able to play the part. In honor of him, Zapp’s voice was modeled in the same way Hartman was going to make the character and Philip J. Fry got his first name in honor of Hartman.

Michael Jackson produced a 40 minute music video!

The short film starred Jackson in 5 different roles, was written by Stephen King, and directed by Stan Winston. It was released on VHS in 1997. The film is a story about a scary Maestro with supernatural powers who is being kicked out of his down by the mayor.

The mayor is comically arrogant and is quite similarly depicted as the prosecutor from Jackson’s early 1990’s child sexual abuse case. The whole thing plays a creepy correlation and story line to Jackson’s child sexual abuse case in general.

While at Harvard, Conan O’Brien stole the original Robin costume and held it hostage for a few days!

In 1984, Conan O’Brien played a pretty funny practical joke at Harvard. Two classmates convinced Burt Ward, the actor who played Robin, to speak on campus. O’Brien and friends dressed up as security guards to “guard the Robin costume” that Ward had brought for the lecture.

During the lecture, they cut the lights and a friend dressed in the Penguin suit ran on stage and stole the Robin costume. They held it hostage for a few days while negotiating with Ward before returning it.

Shia LaBeouf’s name can be translated to “Thank God for beef!”

Apparently his grandmother misspelled the name LaBoeuf, which means "The Beef" in French. Shia comes from the Hebrew "Gift from God," So if you combine it, you can translate his name into "Thank God for the Beef." He also told People Magazine that Shia isn't well received in France, because it sounds similar to the French "chié" which means "shat." So in France his name sounds like "I shat the beef!."

LaBeouf began his acting career after seeing a friend of his on “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.” He decided he wanted to become an actor, spoke to his mom, and the next day he picked out an agent in the yellow pages. He auditioned for the agent and they signed him right then! His parents were part of the circus while he was growing up. He’s known for his role in Even Stevens on the Disney Channel, Disturbia, and Transformers.

We’ve contributed to the extinction of almost 100 mammals! Hunting plays a role in the extinction, by means of hunting for food or sport. This includes poaching animals, which is extremely illegal. We also contribute to the problem by destroying natural habitats through deforestation and construction work.

Some of the animals we’ve killed out of existence are the river dolphin, some species of wallaby, many species of rats and mice, some bat species, certain species of tigers and wolves!
