The tip of a shoelace is called an Aglet.
The name comes from Old French 'aguillette' and it's the diminutive of the word 'aguille' which means needle. That word comes from the Latin word for needle Acus.

Even though it's a longshot that the United States would elect a prisoner, it has actually been done more than once! In 2004, Lyndon LaRouche, an 81 year old Democrat ran for President for the eighth time. On his fifth try in 1992 he ran from a prison cell where he was serving for tax evasion, mail fraud, and conspiracy.
In 2004, Leonard Peltier, an American Indian activist from the Peace and Freedom party ran for President from prison, as well. His crime was killing two FBI agents in 1975 in South Dakota. Apparently he’s been trying to get a parole hearing since 1986.
Though people were disgusted by Peltier and the Peace and Freedom party for letting him run, they had every right to put him on the ballot. So, next time you vote, make sure you know who everyone is first!
The British subs have orders to launch their missiles if they can’t tune into the BBC radio program “Today” for a number of consecutive days. In 2003, British submarine captains were on high alert when they lost signal with the BBC radio for just 15 minutes!
A fire alarm at the BBC headquarters caused the lost signal and was replaced by classical music. The program “Today” is very popular with government ministers. Each British nuclear submarine has signed orders from Prime Minister Tony Blair locked in their safe to launch nuclear weapons if such an occasion should arise.
Technically the subs have 4 options: put the subs under US command, go to Australia, launch a nuclear strike on their enemies, or use their own judgment! They take their programs seriously!

Thankfully, they're not killer Sharktopuses (sharktopi?). However, the Australian black-tip shark has been found to be mating with their global counterpart, the common black-tip.
This is the first time it has been observed in nature. It is significant because the Australian black-tip is smaller and can only survive in tropical climates. Scientists are calling this "evolution in action" becuase the hybrids can survive in more climates.
They still don't know if the hybrid breed has the upper hand in the evolutionary chain. If they do, then they expect the Australian black-tip to slowly disappear over time.
If you think about it, it’s probably not a bad idea. Africa has an overwhelming amount of HIV victims. Sesame Street is an educational program for kids, so it makes sense that they would try to inform them of HIV at a young age.
Former President Bill Clinton was taped with Kami the muppet talking about HIV. Kami reveals to Clinton that she has HIV and they discuss how it’s important to talk with your parents about it and it is safe to give people who are HIV positive a hug.
Fear of AIDS is rampant in Africa. The clip appeared on World AIDS Day in 2006.
