Brienne of Game of Thrones doesn't know how old she is!

Gwendoline Christie is having a breakout season playing Brienne of Tarth in the popular TV show Game of Thrones. She grew up in southern England and was trained as a semi-professional gymnast as a child until a spine injury derailed her career, and she took up acting.

Her height has made her ‘pretty genderless’ at times, according to her. The 6ft 3in actress got a recurring role in season 2 of Game of Thrones, and a much more expanded role this current season. During an interview promoting the show, she stated that neither she nor her mom are aware of what her birthday or her age really is!

Mortal Kombat owes its origin to Jean-Claude Van Damme!

The controversial fighting series was originally conceived as an American response to the smash hit Street Fighter. However, the original idea from creators Ed Boon and John Tobias was completely different than the blood and gore version we got in the end.

They originally wanted to make a fighting game based on Jean-Claude Van Damme. They almost had a deal, but the plan fell through because Van Damme signed a deal with Sega to make a game for the Genesis.

Boon and Tobias went on to create Johnny Cage, who was based on Van Damme, and made him a main character in the Mortal Kombat series. Ironically, Van Damme later starred in the awful movie adaptation of Street Fighter.

Bill Gates supports a 'Robin Hood Tax' that would send money from rich countries to poor ones!

A 'Robin Hood Tax' was proposed by Bill Gates at the G20 summit in 2011. The small tax is placed on bond sharing, and trading, which could result in an extra $48 billion a year, all of which would be sent to developing nations to help them fight their way out of poverty. Essentially, the tax is taking money from rich countries, and giving it to the poor ones - much like the tales of Robin Hood.

However, Gates was met with much protest by the representatives of the United States and of Britain because of the status of their country after the financial crisis that occurred in 2007!

Before you deem the leaders of the world as uncharitable, greedy old men, consider how generous Bill Gates is. He's the man who has vowed to give every penny of his fortune when he passes, directly to charity, rather than to his own children!

Jack Sparrow became a pirate because he refused to sell his shipmate to slavery!

Although it's not mentioned in any of the movies, there was a series of books that detailed the backstory of Captain Jack Sparrow. Turns out that Jack Sparrow was at one point a legitimate first mate of an East India Trading Company ship.

While he was in Africa, Cutler Beckett makes him captain of a ship and gives him an assignment. He's to go with a girl name Ayisha to her island of Zerzura and steal their treasure and sell the natives to slavery.

The idea of that eventually is too much for Captain Sparrow, who decides to disobey the order and because of that, he became the pirate that we know and love from the movies.
