The song "Fireflies" by Owl City was written because of singer Adam Young's insomnia.

Young says that the disorder is both a blessing and a curse because while 3-5 hours of sleep per night allows him to be more productive, inspiration frequently tends to strike just as he is about to sleep. One of these sleepless nights in front of his keyboard yielded the smash hit "Fireflies." Young says that he was simply fooling around and not trying to write anything - the song just developed over a couple of hours. He didn't even realize it had the potential to be a hit!

Usain Bolt had a meal of chicken nuggets before his world record 100 meter dash in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The day of the record-breaking 100 meter final Bolt said he "didn't have breakfast, woke up at 11, sat around watching TV, then had some chicken nuggets, slept for 2 hours...then went back and got some more nuggets!" The reason for the nuggets? Usain was afraid to eat anything else because he didn't trust the foreign food in China.

Check out this interview with the world record runner below. Another highlight from the interview: Usain Bolt broke the world record with his shoelaces untied!

Marilyn Monroe supposedly had to ask an autograph seeker how to spell her own name.

This was because "Marilyn Monroe" was not originally her name! After signing the young starlet, 20th Century Fox casting director Ben Lyon supposedly expressed a strong dislike for her name, Norma Jeane Dougherty. Lyon discarded initial name ideas such as "Carole Lind" or inverting her name to "Jean Norman," until finally settling on "Marilyn" as a first name. This was inspired by a 1920s stage actress named Marilyn Miller whom Lyon had admired for some time. As a potential last name, Norma Jean suggested her mother's family name - "Monroe." Lyon thought the alliteration was catchy, and thus, the Hollywood starlet Marilyn Monroe was born!

Three Pixar films actually show blood.

Whoever said cartoons were kiddy? Pixar started off fairly innocuously in Finding Nemo by having Dory the fish suffer a small nosebleed underwater. The next year, they got a bit more violent in The Incredibles when Mr. Incredible bleeds from a cut caused by the Omnidroid! And finally in Up, Pixar decided to pull out the big guns and have TWO scenes in which blood is shown! These two incidents occur when Carl hits Steve the construction worker with his cane and when Dug is bitten by Alpha the doberman pinscher.
