The movie She's the Man is based on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."

This movie is just chock full of references to the play, too! The teens' school is called Illyria, which is the name of the country the play is set in. On Viola's first day at Illyria, she walks by a sign for a school play entitled "What You Will," which is the alternate title for "Twelfth Night." Duke Orsino is based on the character of Orsino, a duke. Duke's friends Toby and Andrew are friends of Orsino in the play and Malcolm is based on Malvolio, which happens to be the name of Malcolm's pet tarantula!

Tom Hanks patterned his accent in Forrest Gump after the actor that played young Forrest.

Hanks initially wanted to tone the Southern accent down a bit, but director Robert Zemeckis convinced him to speak in with a heavy drawl, as described in the original novel. Tom based his tone after Michael Conner Humphreys, who actually spoke that way!

It honestly would not be the same movie without his accent. Here's Tom Hanks playing Forrest without the accent (it's really bizarre):

After a campaign insisting otherwise, Taco Bell has come out confirming that their meat is 88% beef.

Update: Taco Bell says their meat is 88% beef.

In response to allegations made last week, Taco Bell is running an ad campaign to 'set the record straight.' The ads are entitled 'Thanks for suing us,' and go into detail describing the Bell's not-so-secret formula:

"We start with USDA-inspected quality beef (88%). Then add water to keep it juicy and moist (3%). Mix in Mexican spices and flavors, including salt, chili pepper, onion powder, tomato powder, sugar, garlic powder, and cocoa powder (4%). Combine a little oats, caramelized sugar, yeast, citric acid, and other ingredients that contribute to the flavor, moisture, consistency, and quality of our seasoned beef (5%)."

It's good to know the beef percentage isn't likely to be as low as originally alleged; however, keep in mind that this is damage control. Taco Bell's fare is probably no worse than most fast food out there, but the important thing to remember is that it IS fast food. No one said it had to be healthy, just quick. If you REALLY want to know what's going into your food, learn to cook it yourself...or marry someone who will do it for you.

Apparently, you CAN sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo.

Or, more correctly, indigenous Yupiks in Alaska have been observed using refrigerators. Journalist Gene Weingarten noticed that everyone had a refrigerator in the town of Savoonga, Alaska, and the lodge he stayed at had 2! If the locals left their food to chill outside during the winter, it would get freezer burn.

Weingarten's account of his stay in Savoonga is an entertaining read. You should check it out.

Update: Our favorite unlucky actor has been cast as Superman

If you remember from our story earlier this month, Henry Cavill has had the misfortune of getting passed over for a number of big-name roles. He has nearly been cast as Superman, Batman, and James Bond. He also lost the roles of both Cedric Diggory and Edward Cullen to Robert Pattinson.

Now it turns out that he's going to play Superman in the new Superman movie that's coming out in 2012, I guess it pays to be patient.
