Directors were required to shoot all of John Wayne's scenes before noon!

John Wayne has become the posterboy for cowboys and all things that were manly, despite having some terrible living habits. Let's face it, Wayne was a chain smoker ever since he was a young man, and he was also a functioning alcoholic - but he was still able to make the greatest Western movies of all time.

Filmmakers were aware of Wayne's drinking problem, and were told to shoot his scenes before noon because by the time the afternoon came around, he was througholy intoxicated and was a 'mean drunk'.

This piece of advice to directors came from Sam O'Steen's memoir, Cut to the Chase. O'Steen was a veteran filmmaker and a long time associate with Wayne before passing away in 2000.

There's an arrow pointing to it and three words: 'What is this?' He had gone back into my bedroom and was just waiting for me... That was a long walk... I was like a defense attorney going to trial against video evidence."

The voice of Darth Vader was mute for 8 years when he was a kid!

James Earl Jones has just about the best voice an actor out there can have. He is known for his booming bass. He voiced Mufasa in The Lion King and Darth Vader in the Star Wars films. He's won Tony Awards and Golden Globes Awards.

He was born in Mississippi in the 1930s to Robert Earl Jones, a boxer, actor, and chauffeur and Ruth Jones, a teacher and maid. His dad left the family soon after James' birth. His grandma raised him and is of Native American, Irish, and African descent. It is pretty surprising to find out that as a child he had a stutter and was even mute.

When he was 5 he moved to his grandparents' farm in Michigan and the transition was traumatic for him. He developed a stutter and was effectively mute for 8 years until he reached high school where a teacher took interest in him and helped him overcome the stutter. He began speaking again after the teacher exposed James to poetry and saw that James was quite good at writing poetry.
