When Rosa Parks refused to go to the back of the bus, it was the SECOND time she'd had a run in with that same driver!

The most famous of these encounters was on December 1, 1955, when John Blake, a Montgomery Bus driver instructed Rosa Parks and three other black people were instructed to move to the back of the bus to make room for a white passenger. She famously refused, and was arrested. This eventually led to the abolition of segregation in the United States.

However, that wasn't the first time that they had run into each other! Sometime in 1943, 12 years before her arrest, Parks boarded the bus and paid the fare. The driver then told her she had to follow city rules and exit the bus and enter from the back door. When she did that, the bus drove off without her. Rosa Parks had to walk home in the rain!

PSA: In the US, 46 million young people ages 18-29 years old are eligible to vote, make sure you’re one of them!

Young people make up 24% of the United States population. However, in 2008 only 50% actually voted and turnout is expected to be even lower this year.

The millennial generation (18-30) makes up a larger percentage of the population than seniors. Since a large number of millennials don’t turn out to vote, politicians don’t always have their best interest in mind.

OurTime.org has a goal to register 1 million new voters and they are working to amplify the youth vote on election day. They’ve created an online voter registration tool that makes it quick and easy to register—no more excuses!

It’s up to you to register yourself, your family, friends, co-workers, etc. Go to ourtime.org/vote to register and make sure millennials have their voices heard on November 6.

A retired Army agent saved almost 2700 Morgan Stanley employees during 9/11!

Rick Rescorla was a British-born US Army officer who served as a soldier in the Vitenam War. After retirement, he became the director of security for Morgan Stanley at the World Trade Center. He was one of the few people who kept insisting in moresecurity at the WTCs parking garage. He gained credibility when the 1993 bombings happened.

Still, he had a queasy feeling about Morgan Stanley staying in the building. He thought that the building was a target for terrorists and that the next attack could involve planes. He recommended the lease not be renewed, but he wasn't listened and it was renewed until 2006.

His recommendation ignored, he still planed and prepared for the worst. He made the entire staff, including senior executives, to practice emergency evacuations every three months.

His fears, of course, turned out to be correct on 9/11/2001. When the first plane hit, Port Authority came on the PA and told everyone to stay in their desk. Rescorla did not trust them after the 1993 attack, so he told everyone that they should evacuate as they had practiced.

Morgan Stanley was the largest tenant at the WTC. Rescorla's preparation meant that 22 floors worth of people were able to evacuate in time before their tower was hit and collapsed from the attack. After successfully evacuating most of the firm's 2687 employees, he went back inside. He was last seen on the 10th floor, going upward before the second tower collapsed.
