A lot of people associate filming pornography with risky sexual behaviors. The truth of the matter might be quite the opposite. Because having to end your career due to an STD would be bad business, most studios have very tight controls over their actors’ health.

In fact, professional porn actors are 80% less likely to have an STD than members of the public of the same age. Here’s some more facts about this industry:

• 20% of men admit to watching porn at work.
• 25 to 33% of people who watch Internet porn are women.
• However, only 2% of paying porn subscribers are female.
• Female performers earn between $600 to $1000 per scene. Men usually get less than $150.

Women speak in a higher pitch to men they find attractive!

After a research paper was published that asserted men are more attracted with women with higher pitched voices, a group of researchers tried to prove the flipside of that: Do women use a higher pitch when they talk to men they are attracted to?

They showed women a series of photos of men that had either more masculine or more feminine faces and express which faces they preferred. They also asked them to record a message that said: ‘Hi, we met at a bar last night. I was just calling you to see if you wanted to go out sometime. Call me back,’ after showing them either a masculinized or feminized face of a man.

What they found was that women who preferred more masculine faces would use a higher pitch to record a message after being shown a masculine face, and women who preferred feminine faces would also use a higher pitch after seeing a more feminine face.

Their conclusion was that voice pitch serves as a sexual signal and women tend to use a higher pitch when talking to someone they’re attracted to!

Men take breakups harder than women!

You might’ve thought that when a relationship ends, the man just rolls with the punches and goes on with his life much quicker than the woman. You’d be wrong. A study of men in their early 20s has found that men find breaking up and the highs and lows of romantic relationships more traumatic than women.

The reason for this? Social networks. The study found that by that age, women already have a pretty steady and reliable social network of close relationships with friends and family that help them cope.

Men, on the other hand, often lack that support. They rely more on their romantic partner. When they lose them, they are more emotionally vulnerable and take the breakup harder.

OK Cupid is a unique blog that consists almost entirely of graphs based on the research that they have done themselves. How do they get this data? They just ask people to fill out surveys whenever they visit the site, and on average, around 100,000 users fill out their surveys!

Although the website contians no explanation as to why twitter users are in short term relationships, it does open your mind up to try and figure it out for yourself. Another twitter related stat is that the odds of you masturbating today almost doubles if your an active twitter user.
