Doctor Who, the longest running science fiction series of all time, is a British show that features a time traveling alien doctor. The show first premiered in 1963, and it is still running today.
Although many different actors have played The Doctor, when the latest one began his role, bowtie sales shot through the roof! The Doctor's latest incarnation is played by 27-year-old Matt Smith who sports a retro academic-style look, with a bowtie.
There are twelve bowties Smith wears in the show, and retailers report sales growing at an incredible 94% immediately after the premiere!
