This is a really sad statistic, because it shows that women in the military face many serious challenges. They have to be worried not just of the battle in the fronts, but also people on their own side!
In 2008, sexual assault reports were up 9 percent from 2007. The military believes that these assaults are under-reported and often women will wait until they leave the military to speak up. As a result, the Department of Veterans Affairs screens for what it calls military sexual trauma.
