Anti-Wasteful spending: There's a US Federal program that gives the economy $8 in benefit for every $1 spent on it
The US economy receives about $8 million for every $1 spent on the NASA space program. Have you ever wondered what exactly exploring the universe can do for all of us here on planet Earth? Well turns out that the economic benefits of space exploration, particularly in the USA, are tremendous!
NASA employs large numbers of Earthly workers, scientists and important private companies and corporations that play a major role in the American economy. Additionally, space exploration not only satisfies our curiosity about the Universe but also leads to the creation and development of technology. One of our posts a few days ago mentioned a few of the breakthroughs made possible by NASA research. Among them: memory foam, scratch resistant lenses and many others.
Some scientists have even hypothesized that if a civilization from another part of space were to make contact with Earth, they would be far more advanced than us because many scientific and technological milestones need to be achieved to make such a thing possible.
