The guitar playing in Metalocalypse is animated 100% accurately.

Metalocalypse is one of the more popular shows on cartoon network’s Adult Swim block. The show is about the members of the fictional death metal band Dethklok, and features constant dark humor including things like violence, death, and very black humor. As a result, the show is rated TV-MA (like many shows on Adult Swim). The music for the show is written by the creator Brendon Small and has been released on multiple albums. 

While most cartoon shows that feature guitar playing or instrument playing of any kind don’t always focus on 100% realism, Metalocalypse does. In an interview with Electronic Musician, Brendon Small said of the guitar realism: “...I wanted to animate guitars and have them played accurately. That this would be a show for guitar geeks and metalheads, and people who like music.” If you haven’t checked out Metalocalypse, it’s worth a watch. It’s one Adult Swim’s most reliably good shows.
