PSA: In the US, 46 million young people ages 18-29 years old are eligible to vote, make sure you’re one of them!
Young people make up 24% of the United States population. However, in 2008 only 50% actually voted and turnout is expected to be even lower this year.
The millennial generation (18-30) makes up a larger percentage of the population than seniors. Since a large number of millennials don’t turn out to vote, politicians don’t always have their best interest in mind.
OurTime.org has a goal to register 1 million new voters and they are working to amplify the youth vote on election day. They’ve created an online voter registration tool that makes it quick and easy to register—no more excuses!
It’s up to you to register yourself, your family, friends, co-workers, etc. Go to ourtime.org/vote to register and make sure millennials have their voices heard on November 6.
