First of all, Wendy’s hired Ronald MacDonald to work for them. They should have been suspicious from the start to see him apply for the job. Anyways, the robbery happened at a Wendy’s in Manchester, New Hampshire in 2005. The 22 year old MacDonald and a coworker, 20 year old Steve Lemay, were found by the restaurant manager in the Wendy safe at 1:30am stealing.
They were both detained at the Wendy’s until the police arrived. MacDonald faced probation violation charges along with theft charges. This was a real man named Ronald MacDonald, though, and had no relation to the red-haired poster clown for McDonalds. The McDonald’s mascot, Ronald McDonald, was created in 1963 and based off of Bozo the Clown.
In the beginning, the clown was seen in commercials in a fantasy world called McDonaldland. He had adventures with his friends including the Hamburglar and the Fry Kids. In recent years, McDonaldland has been completely phased out and the clown is seen interacting with normal children.
