Roman emperor Claudius' love life was considered unusual for his time. He only liked women, and not both women and men

He was frowned upon because he was the only one out of 15 emperors to not take men or boys as lovers. That practice was normal tradition back then and people found it weird that Claudius did not. This was actually used as a political tool against him. Authors from the time wrote negative propaganda and accused him of being dominated by women and of being a womanizer.

That last accusation was kinda true, depending on your standards. Claudius got married four times. He divorced his first wife who was his cousin, his second wife suffered a sudden death on their wedding day, he divorced the third one, and he executed the fourth one for marring Gaius Silius (a roman senator) while he was on a journey. He made his bodyguards promise to kill him if he ever married again.
