So THIS explains why I called them “the furry bear things” during my first viewing of the Star Wars trilogy back when I was 5! The word ‘Ewok’ is not uttered during any of the film’s dialogue and doesn’t actually appear until the film’s credits roll. Most people are probably not that observant, so the word made its way into the canon of American pop culture through various Star Wars novelizations, spin-offs, and promotional materials.
