A man survived the Hindenburg disaster by bailing out the window!

Joseph Späh was a comic acrobat who was on his way to New York to perform his own show but missed a ship that left from Germany. Späh decided to take the Hindenburg to New Jersey because it was his only hope to arrive to New York in time for rehearsals to begin.

When he started sensing trouble, Späh broke a window and climbed out with a video camera. As the Hindenburg went lower and lower, Späh jumped out of the window at around 20 feet and did a safety roll to land safely. Unfortunately, Späh still suffered ankle injuries but was rescued from the impending fiery disaster by a ground worker who helped Späh up and ran him to safety!
