Woody Harrelson once hit a photographer because he thought he was a zombie.
The photographer worked for TMZ. The incident, which occurred at New York City’s La Guardia Airport, wouldn’t ordinarily be all that notable. Many celebrities often get rough with intrusive photographers.
Harrelson’s excuse was what made it so strange. His explanation was that he had just wrapped up Zombieland, and after being constantly attacked by zombies, he was still in character when flying back to New York.
When he arrived at the airport with his daughter, he was startled by a paparazzo, and “quite understandably” mistook him for a zombie. Many thought of it as a humorous response to the degraded state of celebrity journalism because of how vicious paparazzi can be.
The photographer was criticized for being too intrusive, but Harvey Levin, founder of TMZ, said that everyone at TMZ has real boundaries and the blame was Harrelson’s. What do you think about Harrelson’s excuse? He would have to be a pretty hard core method actor to legitimize it.
