When President Truman visited Disneyland in 1957, he refused to go on the Dumbo ride.

Truman was not afraid of the ride or anything, though. He also had no problem with Dumbo...just the fact that he is an elephant! As you probably know, President Harry S. Truman was a staunch Democrat. Because the elephant is symbolic of the Republic party, Truman jokingly passed up on mounting a ride full of them...as should any self-respecting Democrat.
