The streets of Victor, Colorado used to be paved with gold...literally.

During the Gold Rush that swept the West during the 1890s, Victor was known as the “City of Mines”. This is because the biggest, wealthiest mines of the Cripple Creek Mining District were located just north of the town on Battle Mountain. This boomtown was founded in 1893 during the heart of the Gold Rush, and was able to pave its streets with the precious metal as a result of its prosperity!
