The Ghostbusters theme song was nominated for an Academy Award.
You don’t normally think “Oscars” when you think about the movie “Ghostbusters”, but they actually were nominated for two awards at the 57th Academy Awards in 1985: Best Visual Effects and Best Original Song for Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters”. Sadly, the film didn’t go home with any awards. Ray Parker Jr. lost out to Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called To Say I Love You”. Even more bad news for Parker: Huey Lewis sued him over the song, because it was too similar to Huey Lewis and the News’ “I Want A New Drug”. The issue was resolved between the two privately over an undisclosed settlement.
