The band Finger Eleven used to be called the Rainbow Butt Monkeys.

You might remember this band from the song “One Thing” which was played on the radio (A LOT). Surprisingly enough, though they have only been successful this past decade, they’ve actually been around since 1989! When they released their first album in 1995, they were operating as the Rainbow Butt Monkeys. It wasn’t until around 1996-1997 when they decided that they wanted to be taken more seriously and came up with the name “Finger Eleven”.

I would argue that Rainbow Butt Monkeys was a much cooler name. However, after checking out some of their early Butt Monkey-era work, I’ve concluded that, names aside, this band was never good.
