Snoopy has his own NASA award!

Snoopy has a long history with flight, so it's no huge surprise that when the director of public affairs for the Manned Spacecraft Center wanted to create an award for outstanding contributions by NASA employees, he chose Snoopy as the image for the award.

Charles Schulz, Snoopy's creator, was a big supporter of the U.S. space program, and let NASA use Snoopy for free. The award comes with a silver Snoopy pin that Charles Schulz drew himself. Schulz also drew the art that went on the posters used to promote the program.

So who can get this reward? Employees of NASA or NASA contractors can be considered for an award if they go above and beyond their work requirements, mostly in improving efficiency, safety and performance of human spaceflight programs.

The award has been around for a long time. Since 1968, over 12,000 people have received the Silver Snoopy. Despite that, the number of Snoopy awards is pretty limited. They're only given to 1% of eligible recipients, and you can only receive one in your lifetime!
