The name is familiar, but in case you can’t place it-Sammy Davis Jr was a entertainer known for his celebrity impersonations. He started out as a tap dancer and singer on Broadway and in Las Vegas and transitioned into a recording artist and actor. He’s famous for being a member of Frank Sinatra’s “Rat Pack.”

He faced racism his entire life and was a major financial supporter of the Civil Rights Movement. In 1972, he had a hit record “The Candy Man” which landed him in Las Vegas shows and the nickname Mister Show Business. In 1987, Davis reunited with Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and Dean Martin and went on an international tour with all of them.

In 1990, he died of throat cancer at the age of 64. His third wife, Altovise received the knowledge that Davis was bankrupt after he had passed away. She had his body exhumed and took the $70,000 worth of jewelry from him that he was buried with. Altovise died in 2009 at the age of 65 of a stroke.
