Jermaine Jackson recently wrote a book about his brother’s rise to fame and tragic death. In an interview with Billy Bush from Access Hollywood, Jermaine shared an excerpt from his book. He told Bush about September 11, 2001.
Michael was supposed to be in a meeting at the World Trade Center. Michael suffered from sleep deprivation and it afflicted him for a long time. The night before the meetings he was up all night.
His mother was with him helping him. He finally fell asleep around 4 a.m. He slept into the morning and missed his appointments. It ended up saving his life, because that morning the Twin Towers fell. Jermaine also took time in the interview to explain a couple other things.
He said Michael didn’t use drugs and that he wasn’t a drug addict. In 1984, Michael survived a harrowing accident that occurred while filming a Pepsi commercial. He suffered second degree burns and chronic pain. The chronic pain is what caused him to search for and use pain medication.
