Kel Mitchel, of "Kenan and Kel," tried out for SNL, but was beat out by Kenan!

In 2003, after "Kenan and Kel" had been cancelled, Kel tried out for Saturday Night Live. He lost out to Kenan Thompson, his former cast mate. Thompson was the first cast member of Saturday Night Live to be younger than the show itself at the age of 26. 

Kel and Kenan starred on Nickolodeon's "All That" comedy sketch program from 1994-1999. From a famous sketch in "All That," Kel starred along with Kenan in the film "Good Burger" in 1997. They co-starred together again in "Kenan and Kel" from 1996-2000. They became a comedy duo of the ‘90s. 

Kel has since done some minor work in film business, including his own writing and producing debut film "Dance Fu." He also starred in the film. He owns and operates a number of Wendy's franchises in Mississippi. After divorcing his wife in 2005 after 6 years of marriage, he married rapper Asia Lee in January of this year. 

He has two children with his first wife. His daughter is Allure and his son is named Lyric.
