Johnny Depp built a bomb with Hunter S. Thompson!
Thompson was an American journalist and author. He’s credited for creating Gonzo journalism, which is essentially a style of reporting where the reporter involves himself in the action so much that they become central figures in the story.
The man is known for his love of firearms, alcohol, and drugs. He liked blowing things up, too. He ran for Sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado in 1970. His platform included the decriminalization of drugs for personal use, renaming Aspen "Fat City" to deter investors, and banning buildings that obscured the view of the mountains.
He wrote "The Rum Diaries," which has since become a movie starring Johnny Depp. Thompson and Depp were good friends and when they met, they went back to Thompson’s place and made a bomb with nitroglycerin.
Depp said that he shot the bomb with a shotgun and there was an 80 foot fireball. At the age of 67 while struggling with health problems, Thompson committed suicide. His final wish was for his ashes to be blown out of 150-foot cannon into the stratosphere. Depp financed the final wish and ceremony.
