Johnny Cash was the first American to know of Stalin’s death

Cash worked for the Air Force before becoming a musician. He intercepted Russian intelligence and deciphered it for 4 years in Germany during the Korean War. He used his military paycheck to buy his first guitar.

While he was working on intercepting Russian intelligence he was the first to receive over the radio that Stalin had died. He knew before President Eisenhower even knew.
