A Congressman was concerned about sending troops to Guam because he thought the ISLAND would tip over!

In 2010, a US Congressman questioned the placement of too many troops in Guam because he was worried it would "tip over and capsize!" Sounds like a joke? Sadly it isn’t. 

On March 25th, 2010 Admiral Robert Willard participated in a hearing arguing for the placement of 8,000 troops on the island of Guam, because it is the United States' westernmost territory.

 Willard was questioned by Georgia congressman Hank Johnson, who asked some extremely strange questions. Johnson begins his questioning by asking for specific dimensions of the island. 

After debating the exact size he proclaims in complete seriousness, "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize."

Admiral Willard looks slightly confused before responding that 175,000 people already live on the island. Johnson later claimed he was making a joke that no one else understood. Watch the clip and tell us if you think he’s joking!
