The record for most T-shirts worn at one time is 257.
The record is held by Sanath Bandara, a marathon runner from Sri Lanka who was a victim of the 2008 Weliveriya bombing. In 2008, a suicide bomber killed 15 people at the start of a marathon race in Sri Lanka. Since then Sanath has been attempting to break Guinness World records.
He has attempted and held a few records for treadmill running, but as of now (at least according to the Guinness website), the only record he has is for wearing the most t-shirts at a time. He attempted the feat on December 22, 2011. It took him 1 hour, 7 minutes and 3 seconds to get to 257.
For some reason, this record is attempted all the time. Sanath’s record came just over a month after a similar attempt, and the prior record holder was a Korean boyband member who broke it a few months earlier too.
What do you think? Is it a ridiculous record or a legitimate one? We don’t look forward to this post being outdated in a few weeks when the next person attempts to break it or something. Also, check out the awesome t-shirts we've selected for you guys to be available on BustedTees.com. We've bought a few of them here at the office 'cause we think they're hilarious. Check them out and tell us what your favorite is. :)
