George Foreman has made more money from the George Foreman Grill than his entire boxing career.
This is an especially surprising one when you realize today, so many people only associate George Foreman with the grill, and know nothing of his boxing career. But he was not just your average boxer. He won 76 matches out of 81 in his career, 68 of them by knockout.
In 1968, at 19 years old, Foreman won the gold medal in men’s boxing at the 1968 Summer Olympics. He had a winning streak of 40-0 until none other than Muhammad Ali defeated him. After that, he took a break before returning and winning three dozen more matches. After another loss, he became a minister of a Houston Christian Church.
After a couple retirements and comebacks, in 1994 he advertised the George Foreman Grill, which was invented by a man from Illinois. In just five years the brand became so popular that he sold it for 138 million dollars. He later went on to say that the amount of money made from the grill had surpassed the amount he made from boxing.
