Domino's Pizza’s sales increased during the OJ Simpson Ford Bronco chase

As those of you old enough to remember (and some of the younger readers may know) American football player OJ Simpson was arrested and put on trial for the murder of his ex-wife and her friend. OJ was controversially acquitted of the charges.

Most of the trial was televised. When the police chased after Simpson on June 17, the United States were glued to their screens. So much so, in fact, that pizza delivery orders soared to an all-time high. 

However, the verdict was being delivered had an opposite effect. After a peak in sales minutes beforehand, there was not a single order placed in any American Domino’s Pizza chain.
