There is a death metal band whose lead singer is a parrot.

The band is called Hatebeak and is comprised of three members. Blake Harrison, who also serves as the drummer of the band Pig Destroyer, is accompanied by Mark Sloan on guitar and bass, and of course Waldo the parrot on vocals. Waldo is a 21 year old Congo African Grey Parrot. He is promoted as the only avian vocalist in music today.

The band members keep their last names off their releases supposedly for the mystery, but presumably also because Waldo doesn’t have one. To avoid torturing Waldo and incurring the wrath of PETA, Hatebeak doesn’t tour. The band only composes music in a studio with unintelligible lyrics and no melody.

As a result, their sound has been described as “a jackhammer being ground in a compactor.” Aquarius Records magazine called Hatebeak “furious and blasting death metal.” Hatebeak has also made a record with Caninus, a band whose lead singers are two dogs. You can listen to Hatebeak’s music here.
