Scallops have up to 100 simple eyes.

While it doesn't seem like the delicious seafood can see, it actually has over 100 simple eyes. They go around the edge of their mantles and they look like a string of beads. Simple eyes, however, are much less complex than the ones you and I have. Scallops cannot even detect shapes. All their eyes allow them to do is detect changing patterns of light and motion.

This means that a scallop would be able to determine a fish just swam past it, but it wouldn't even know what shape it was, or if it even was a fish. Scallops' eyes, however are more complex than other bivalves. They have 2 different types of retinas that correspond to light and darkness. This allows them to detect the shadows of their predators.
