Penguins might have outlived dinosaurs.
New penguin fossils discovered in New Zealand evidence to the existence of penguins on Earth from 58 to 62 billion years ago. This would mean that there birds (specifically, prehistoric penguins) that coexisted with dinosaurs. This helps lend credibility to the idea that birds evolved from dinosaurs, and ultimately outlived whatever caused them to become extinct. The earliest birds are thought to have been around 90 million years ago, but it’s interesting to know that at the end of the dinosaur era, a bird that we’re already familiar with already existed.
