Owls are the only bird that lowers their upper eyelids to blink. All other birds raise their lower lid to blink.

Owls are located everywhere on Earth except Antarctica, parts of Greenland, and remote islands. They constitute a group of 200 bird species. They are solitary birds, meaning they keep to themselves and don’t live in groups. 

They fly almost completely silent and much slower than other birds. Some owls hunt fish, but most live on insects and small rodents. They hunt at night and have excellent night vision with large eyes.

Their eyes are tubular, though, making it impossible for them to move them. They must move their head to avert their eyes. Owls can turn their heads up to 270 degrees! They can easily see behind their backs without moving their torso at all. 

Unlike any other bird, owls blink by lowering their upper eyelids instead of raising their lower lid. Owls are farsighted, though, making them unable to see things close to their faces clearly.
