Maru and all Scottish Fold are descended from one cat named Susie!
Scottish Fold is a type of cat characterized by their distinctive ear fold. The very first Scottish Fold was a long-haired barn cat with white fur, named Susie. She was found in 1961 at a farm in Scotland and her unique ears made her look like an owl.
Susie had kittens and two of them had the ear folds, too. One of the kittens was owned by a man who began breeding them and registered them with the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy in Great Britain. So, all Scottish Fold originated with one single cat.
